Saldo

We aim towards a new decorative design.

Via joint artistic work and research within aesthetics and content we strive towards this goal. We want to vitalize the kind of design that communicates with the observer and which at the same time brings forth an aesthetic sensation and fills a practical function. We like to see that a titillating element is added to the design. Joyful or serious, giddy or provocative. The subjects are often based on philosophy, humanism or research. To us the content is just as obvious a part of the textile as quality and aesthetics, or to simplify: brain, heart and hand are all natural elements of the design.

Saldo design their own textile products with a communicative content for public interiors and homes concerned with form. We turn to architects, interior decorators, retail dealers of products for public interior decoration and shops that emphasize quality. Saldo is owned and run by Stefan and Madlein Fallgren who are responsible for form and design as well. Saldo also carries out orders on commission with a wide range as to form and design. Our ambition is close co-operation with our customers, who in time can give us new aims and direction.

”As long as NASA and similar organizations exist, with time the textile industry will share the results of their research in new materials. And as long as the eye has a tendency to become tired of things, all the colours of the rainbow will still be there indefinitely. As long as the world changes there will also be an infinite source for patterns. The interesting thing is how the values of today regarding textiles will change in the future.

The need for increased identity, conveyance of messages and the search for intellectual content will create totally new conditions for purchases and as a result, also the production of textiles will become an active part of public interior decoration, having earlier been merely a passive detail. Textiles have a very interesting future.”
